It is with deep sadness that we must inform the Judo family of the untimely passing of a prominent Judo figure, Mr. Chonosuke Takaki on 6th December 2016, an Executive Board Member of the All Japan Judo Federation.

The AJJF, and the entire Judo community mourn the loss of our great champion, who won the Gold medal in the 1973 World Judo Championships held in Lausanne in the +93kg category.

Born in Chiba, Japan on 26 October 1948, he was also a great coach with passion and charisma. After graduating from Nihon University, entered the Metropolitan Police Department and continued his competition career until the age of 33. Since 1984, he was taking charge of the coaching role at the Nihon University Judo Club, where he had raised numerous prestigious champions including the Gold medalist of 2000 Sydney Olympic Games in the -81kg category, Mr. Makoto Takimoto, while educating thousands of youths through the practice of Judo for the benefit of the society.

We should like to express our sincere condolences to his family and friends through this difficult time.
